How do you cope with ‘Feast and Famine’ in your practice?
Why is it so difficult to keep your head above water when you are working
so hard?

week you are flat out, the next you’re twiddling your thumbs waiting for

Alternative therapies are becoming increasingly accepted - even by GPs.
Yet there is an ever-growing number of therapists and counsellors who

The vast majority of therapists provide an excellent service. Their patients/clients
are delighted with the treatments they provide. But they don’t have enough
of them. Lack of paying customers is starving their business of cash and
forcing them to quit what could otherwise be a promising career. They
are disillusioned and uncomfortable with the business, even though they
are passionate about the treatments they dispense.

Hand on heart, are you a good business-person? Are you entrepreneurial,
innovative, always looking for a good deal? The simple fact is most practitioners
are not business-minded. The vocational nature of our work seems to attract
those for whom finance and budgets are an anathema.
In essence we know how to treat our patients, but we have very few ideas
about how to find those patients in the first place.
So what’s the solution?
Believe me, I understand these problems because I have been through them
all myself. In 1993 there were times when I felt like throwing in the
towel and finding a ‘regular’ job. Yet I stuck at it, more out of faith
than anything else. I knew what I wanted to do and I wasn’t going to let
my lack of business acumen get in the way.
I became convinced that the only way out was to learn, step-by-simple-step
how to build my business. I studied books, listened to audio programmes,
went to seminars, talked to people about their businesses and gradually
built a picture of the essentials of running a successful practice.
It wasn’t complete by any means - and it was totally unproven...
So I started putting it into practice. Cautiously and carefully. I adapted
parts as I learned new ideas. I fine-tuned the steps as I went along and
within 18 months I had built a successful practice and was doing reasonably
well from it.
The more I used my ‘system’ , the more I became convinced that other
practitioners should be able to use it and benefit from it too. I was
determined to create a ‘How to Build Your Practice’ guide, written from
the point of view of someone who has experienced the ups and downs of
private practice; someone who can explain and translate business ideas
yet retain the spiritual/universal philosophies which are such a vital
ingredient of our professions.

A little about Andrew Parr...
Andrew Parr has been a full-time registered clinical hypnotherapist in
private practice for over 15 years and has more than 10,000 hours of client
experience. For 3 years he ran a Complementary Medicine Clinic where he
worked closely with over 60 practitioners from a wide range of specialisations.
After a 3 year sabbatical he rebuilt his own private practice from scratch
in one of the most competitive areas of the country and went from zero
to being fully booked every week in approximately 18 months using the
principles contained in this audio programme.
He now works in Harley Street, in central London where he runs a successful
private practice.
